Uninhabiting the Violence of Silencing
activations of creativity, ethics, and resistance
by Fabiola Bahiyya Nabil Naguib
"This collection is deeply moving, sensitive and courageous."
−ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU, Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
"Sometimes a book teaches me, sometimes brings tears of recognition,
sometimes connects me profoundly with our ongoing struggles for justice and respect.
This beautiful creation is all these gifts in a voice as clear and deep
as the pool from which we all long to drink."
−CHRYSTOS, acclaimed artist, writer, and activist.
Uninhabiting the Violence of Silencing is an adventurous and powerful collection of poetry, short essays and artworks anchored in Naguib's personal journey as an artist, writer, activist, and seeker. This collection is not for the faint of heart or conviction; it is, however, a gem! Packed with jarring, tender, raging, heartfelt, and honest explorations, Naguib's writings and artwork almost emerge from each page startling, jumping from political criticism to the fundamentals of humanity to her personal journey as a woman, an indigenous person, and an individual committed to social conscience and justice. Uninhabiting the Violence of Silencing is a book meant to inspire the hearts of those already committed to breaking silences and for those awakening to the possibilities.

Planetarity
Developed and Curated by Rajdeep Singh Gill
Planetarity is a rich sensory experience that propels the ethical re/orienting of curatorial and creative practice. It is an innovative curatorial archive that skillfully and compellingly interweaves the multifarious works of artists, writers, academics, and activists. Planetarity does not compartmentalize or atomize creativity or seek to perpetuate disassociative hierarchies, dichotomies, or reifications. It is rooted in a powerful ethic of reciprocity, witnessing, and sharing.
The CD component of the project involves a digital curatorial archive and virtual exhibition/s involving more than one hundred local, national, and international artists, such as Tania Willard, Janice Toulouse Shingwaak, Asbjorn Forsoget, Jamelie Hassan, Francisca Sales, Ajadi Mogaji, Leafa Janice Wilson, Emna Zghal, Sonya Clark, Maha Maamoun, Rula Halawani, and many others. The project also features an interwoven collection of creative and critical writings with contributions by writers such as Lee Maracle, Arundhati Roy, Nathalie Handal, Eduardo Robles, Farhad Mazhar, and several others.
The expected date of release for this CD project is Fall/Winter 2008/9
The CD portion of this project will be available free of charge. For those not involved in the project, you will only need to send a personal cheque, money order, or self-addressed and stamped envelope to cover shipping costs-the CD is free.
